Something Worth Writing About

I know that this blog has been dead for months but that's the way life goes and most of my writing has been personal, and in my paper journal. It just feels safer there.

Anyhow, last night was our first swim meet of the summer and both of my kids made me proud. Me, the screaming, cheering parent all the way down the lane. Liam, in his first meet ever, picked up a 1st place in breast stroke and 3rd in freestyle. Isabella, her first year in the 9-11 category, picked up a third place in the breast stroke and participant in freestyle. She, or me, forgot to resign her up for one of her better events, the backstroke. So, that's on tap for next week. I can't tell you how incredibly proud I am of both of them. Especially Izzy, since I think she has to work harder than Liam at succeeding at athletics. She's more like me and lacks some of the natural skill her younger brother thrives on. But honestly, it's just great. And I'm looking forward to their success and having fun at the next meet. The best moment of the night was Liam's response to his last swim, “Boy that was fun.” And in the end, that is what matters most.
