Everything's on the line...

It's the bottom of the ninth, two outs, bases loaded. I've got two strikes and no balls in the count. The team is up against the wall and down by three. It's up to me. Just me.

A Four Minute Commute

I started riding my bike to B&N this week. I used to feel like a nerd when thinking about riding a bike in anything but my biking gear, but khaki's will do when it only takes me four minutes to get to work and I get a steady breeze along the way. I bought a light for the front and back for the nighttime trip home and only have to watch out for the drunks who happen to step into my path.

That's all for now. Going to catch SportsCenter and catch up on baseball scores and then do some reading. Need to finish “The World is Flat” so I can start on the other five books I've got lined up to read. (Like I have the time.)

Damn Light Poles...

I realize that I can be somewhat distracted but it's my kids that I'm beginning to worry about. Isabella walked into a light pole while we were walking home from our “urban hike” and has a lump on the head to show for it. Her younger brother, not to be outdone, promptly and purposely bumped his head on the next available pole. No damage there.

This is the same boy though, that did manage to walk into a parking meter a few weeks ago walking home from the library.

I think I'll have to be keeping a closer eye on each other their steps.

It's 1 am and I have no idea while I'm still up. Watching Baseball Tonight on ESPN as the battery power on the laptop sneaks below 50%.

Tomorrow is another day of Camp Dad and I think we're going to go to the pool. The rain is supposed to stop and the 90 degree temps, and humidity, should be a thing of the past. So, really, I should go to sleep.

9 Happy, Screaming Girls

Sleep overs are not a parent's friend. Izzy had a sleep over last Thursday to celebrate her 8th birthday (man, I can't believe she's 8 already) and had nine of her closest friends over to laugh and scream, go to the pool, eat pizza, make crafts and watch movies. Oh yeah, and sleep. Personally, I hung out with Liam and tried to avoid the whole party thing. Just a tad bit too much for me. Especially the screaming — you know the fun kind — particularly during the short but frantic pillow fight.

Weekend went by fast. Today, Monday, so far I've only looked at e-mail and not much else while the kids are busy with Play Dough and some art project. Trying to decide if we are going to the pool or the library. Life is difficult when one has to make these kind of decisions, ya know?
