Shocking for me to recommend an article from the Heritage Foundation or anything remotely associated with them. But, this is a must read. A true state of the state of the Middle East. Did I say that you should really read this article by Dennis Prager. I've never read anything of his before but this you have to read. Have I made my point? Is there anyone out there to read it?
Link happy when it's important.
Posted by robdesign at February 5, 2004 01:10 PMOk, I read it.
So what IS the Muslim gripe with the Jews? Why do they hate them so much? Muslims aren't Christian so it can't be the excuse a lot of Christian's use..."The Jews killed Christ." Muslims don't give a rat's ass about Christ, do they?
I'm asking because I am not a member of any religion and am totally clueless about all this stuff.
Posted by: Norah at February 6, 2004 01:33 PMSorry, dude, but that article was a completely worthless read. In the modern world, accepting aid from a country, no matter how "free" that aid is, is a way of politically indebting yourself to that country. From that point of view, it is ludicrous to suggest that avowed, MUTUAL adversaries such as Israel and Iran ought to be expected to accept help from each other.
This of course, is in addition to the myriad of factual errors and obfuscatory statements the author makes in the middle of what is, really, quite a simplistic, redeuctionist piece.
Posted by: experimentspace at February 9, 2004 11:29 AMYou're right it is important that people pay attention to this. I had previously linked to a news item about the Iranian refusal. But the insult didn't stop with that. The Iranians used helicopters that had flown aid to them to transport arms to Syria for Hezbollah. See here

Even if we disagree on domestic policy apparently we agree about Israel. Read my post about a recent article from the Seattle Post Intelligencer. (link included)
